MEMBERSHIP
To become a member of SAGIC, applicants need to subscribe to the purpose and aim of the organisation.
Purpose: The South African Green Industries Council (SAGIC) is a non-profit company representing the green industry i.e. landscaping and ornamental horticultural activities in South Africa. SAGIC supports and promotes organizations, institutions, interest groups and private/public companies that seek involvement, advice or participation in any of the green industry’s objectives and commitments.
Aim: SAGIC aims to uphold best practice and to develop sound green industry practices, facilitate issues of national interest and establish networking opportunities, while enhancing knowledge, skills and capabilities through various training and education interventions within the sector.
MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS:
- All categories of membership will have opportunities to participate fully at SAGIC functions and events. In the case of associations, institutes, etc. this benefit may be extended to members of the SAGIC Member Associations at discounted rates from time to time.
- Macro representation – SAGIC has identified Water, Biodiversity and Sustainability as the key drivers that affect the green industry at large. SAGIC participates at various forums and opportunities to highlight the plight and the success stories within the green industry. SAGIC strives to provide guidance in terms of best practices principles, that are relevant to ensure growth and robustness across the green industry umbrella.
- Information Sharing – Receive updates on legislative issues and other important undertakings of national interest pertaining to the green industry.
- Networking – enjoy the numerous networking opportunities with fellow industry peers and associates, especially at the annual Convention. Through participation in the SAGIC initiatives contact and engagement with industry leaders and thinkers is established.
- Landscape & Ornamental Horticultural Training – through the Green Industry Development Academy (GIDA) a variety of training opportunities at various levels are created for businesses of varying size to participate in.
- Partnership and Sponsor Opportunities – by showing support and commitment to the green industry the various role players assist in taking the entire industry forward.

| Applicable to any associations, institutes, organisations etc. that have an interest in the Green Industry. Association members nominate two representatives to the SAGIC Council for a term of office of two years. Nominated representatives attend quarterly meetings and have voting rights. Association members actively participate in meetings events organised by the SAGIC. Association members will be included on the SAGIC website and social media pages. National and Regional association e.g. province specific, are created to ensure full representation and participation within SAGIC. |

| This membership is open to any green industry companies that see a benefit from a positive association with SAGIC, but who do not qualify for membership of any current SAGIC Association Member, unless the company expressly wishes to have dual membership. In the case of having membership of another SAGIC Member Association, a valid membership certificate is to be submitted to enjoy a membership discount of 20%. |

| Any educational institution that is active in the Green Industry may join SAGIC as an Educational Institution Member. This category of registration would also apply to all service providers that are providing green industry related accredited and / or non-accredited relevant training. |

This category of registration would also apply to all service providers that are providing green industry related accredited training e.g. horticulture, health and safety etc.Numerous organisations within Green Industry environment play an important role but do not necessarily wish to become full members of SAGIC. The affiliation category allows for the relationship between SAGIC and the applying affiliate to be tailored in such a way as to recognise both organisations and the beneficial role that can be fulfilled in the interest of the Green Industry by both parties. |
